Sources at 20th Century Fox report that Mark Wahlberg, has signed to play the title role in the Planet of the Apes prequel film Caesar: Rise of the Apes. Wahlberg starred in Fox's last attempt to reboot the Planet of the Apes franchise in 2001. In that film, directed by Tim Burton (Alice in Wonderland), he portrayed a Human astronaut but in the new film he will play an Ape. Wahlberg was the first choice of director Rupert Wyatt who signed on to the project a few weeks ago. Commenting via his representatives Wahlberg stated, "I hope this will give me some redemption with fans who were disappointed with the first film ten years ago". But most fans are not pleased with the selection of Wahlberg until they found out that this is an April Fool's joke on members of the Yahoo POTA group. Gotcha!
